Happy Hump Day: Laidback Luke Does Boston

Today is a day I have been waiting for since I found out Laidback Luke was coming to play Royale Boston. Another mid-week show at Royale, another late night, but who cares? This dude is a master behind the decks and a hell of a producer. Given Brian Hanna's (of My Music is Better Than Yours) feedback of the Denver show, I can only have high hopes for tonight. Very upset that Feed Me is also playing in Boston tonight, but after having seen both live, the obvious choice for me was to see LBL. While Feed Me's music is awesome, he tends to only play his own productions where as LBL plays it all.

According to Brian, LBL dropped everything from dubstep to hard rock (System of a Down) to the classic "Sandstorm" by Darude to LBL originals and straight up Dirty Dutch House music. Below you can find a handful of LBL treats to get you ready for tonight. Drop me a line if you're heading to the show!

Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk (Laidback Luke Remix)

Benny Benassi ft. Gary Go - Cinema (Laidback Luke remix)

Laidback Luke, Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso - Leave the World Behind

Laidback Luke ft. Jonathan Mendelsohn - Timebomb

Monday Throwback: Limp Bizkit ft. Method Man - N Together Now

Your first reaction when reading the title: "Is this a joke?!" My answer to you: no.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of refreshing my memory with this tune. Hate all you want on Limp Bizkit and Fred Durst, but the beat in this is true hip hop and Method Man's flow is unmatched.

I still can't believe I'm posting this either, but just go with it.

Fuck Yeah Friday!: Remixes, Remixes, Remixes

Copied from my post on mymusicisbetterthanyours.com :

This week I bring you four tracks on the house and electro-house side of the world and these do not disappoint. All of these happen to be remixes, but the only one that is a drastic change from the original is Alesso's remix of LMFAO's famous "Party Rock Anthem." He turned this thing into a certifiable banger, and keeps the awesome vocals of Everyday I'm shufflin'.

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem (Alesso Remix)

Beyond that, I bring you a crazy dirty dutch remix of Above & Beyond's "Sun & Moon." The original mix of "Sun & Moon" has seen HEAVY rotation by touring DJs and it's a great track, but this version puts a whole new twist on it (you'll see what I mean).

Above & Beyond - Sun & Moon (Paul Johns Edit)

Next is a song I haven't been able to get enough of: a remix by Marcel Woods of Marco V's "Unprepared." Marcel Woods has been on fire recently and this remix uses heavy deep synths and percussion sounds that I can't even begin to describe (again, you'll see what I'm talking about).

Marco V - Unprepared (Marcel Woods Remix)

Lastly is a Darth & Vader banging electro-house remix of Lazy Rich's "Get Out". Lazy Rich makes bangers, Darth & Vader make bangers, it all works and is a great way to leave you ready to party your pants off for the weekend. Enjoy and let us know what you think! Feedback is happily accepted on both the Comments section and on our Facebook Page.

Happy Hump Day: Barnett Lobel

GO BRUINS!!!

Well well well. Tiesto's Club Life podcast did it again. Constantly turning me on to new music and to new producers, episode 218 opened up with a sick electro-house song by a guy named Barnett Lobel. I don't know much about him, but I do know he is just coming onto the scene and doing so in a very big way. Barnett hails from Englewood, New Jersey and is following in the footsteps of other young electro-house producers such as Porter Robinson, Mord Fustang, and DallasK. This track features the beautiful voice of Sue Cho who has been a go-to choice for electro-house producers and is noted for tracks such as Scooter & Lavelle's "Beats Inside My Head," and Porter Robinson & Lazy Rich's "Hello."

Already among the Beatport top-100, I can see big things coming to Barnett in the not-so-distant future. I've already reached out to him on his Facebook Page telling him how much he rocks and he loved the props - make sure you "Like" him and show him some love. Also, make sure to visit Sue Cho's Soundcloud Page and Barnett Lobel's Soundcloud Page.

Again: GO BRUINS! Boston Wants the Cup!

Fuck Yeah Friday!: Electro In Your Face

You may be asking yourself, what the FUCK is that picture? Well my friend, I will tell you. That is an audio plug-in called the Sausage Fattener and it was created by the awesome duo Dada Life. Essentially, you use it in audio production software to fatten up your tracks, whether you want to fatten the basslines, fatten the drums, fatten the synth leads - really anything you want. The more you increase the "fatness", the angrier the sausage's face gets. This tool is so simple to use yet it gives Dada Life that dirty sound they have in every track. AND, it's been used by top producers in the world such as Tiesto, Laidback Luke, Hardwell, Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso (of the Swedish House Mafia), Zedd, and MANY more.

In honor of such a sweet plug-in, here is a nice juicy handful of dirty electro-house bangers. If these don't get your party started this weekend, I don't know what will...

Kaskade - Dynasty (Dada Life Remix)

Hardwell - Encoded (Dada Life Remix)

Designer Drugs - Zombies!

Designer Drugs - FUCK YEAH!!!

BONUS - The Title Track from the new Feed Me 4-song EP:

Feed Me - To The Stars

Happy Hump Day: a Little Barbara Tucker, a Little Zedd

It's Hump Day and camels have humps. Get it?
Well I am thoroughly exhausted from several days of minimal sleep and a last-minute decision to go to the Phish concert last night at the Comcast Center in Mansfield. For any Phish fans out there, they played a really great show with plenty of jams and plenty of funk. The post-show was miserable, however, and it took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lots.

Despite my lethargy today, I have picked out a couple tracks for you to groove to while you await Fuck Yeah Friday!

Barbara Tucker - I Get Lifted (David Tort Vocal Mix)

This song is featured on Avicii Presents Strictly Miami 2011 and always gets stuck in my head with its catchy vocals and funky basslines.

Skrillex - Weekends (Zedd Remix)

"Weekends" is by far one of my favorite Skrillex originals. My interest piqued when I saw Zedd made a remix of this song because I wondered how it could be any more awesome than the original. Well, my friend Zedd succeeded. The vocal clips used at the 0:15 second mark really get me excited for the rest of the song to come and it reminds me of the Will Bailey and Mikey Hook remix of Wolfgang Gartner's "Montezuma". This Zedd remix is ultra funky and even keeps some of the original Skrillex wobbles in there.

Happy Humpday everyone!

Monday Throwback: Dilated Peoples ft. Talib Kweli - Kindness for Weakness

Skrillex killed it last night. But since today is Monday, it's time for your weekly hip-hop gem. This one comes to you from the Dilated Peoples featuring Talib Kweli. The DPs have collaborated with artists such as Kanye West on "This Way" and this song follows in similar style with a sick beat and tight lyrical flow.

Fuck Yeah Friday!: EDX, Ben Preston, and Bonus Russ Chimes

Swiss producer/DJ EDX will be spinning at Royale Nightclub in Boston tonight. This dude is known for his Euro-house style, bordering on the lines of progressive house and trance, with driving bass lines and club-style beats. I've been going to Royale over the past couple months for concerts, but I'm glad tonight is one of their "club" nights and a world-famous DJ happens to be spinning.

So, for Fuck Yeah Friday! I will be featuring a couple of his songs, and also one from Ben Preston who has a similar production style. Additionally, you can find a bonus track by one of my new favorites, Russ Chimes, called "Tonic" below.

Thanks to Brian Hanna of our newly launched website My Music Is Better Than Yours for the tip. And make sure to "like" us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/mmibty

EDX - Szeplo

EDX - Embrace (Original Club Mix)

Ben Preston - Below the Surface

Happy Hump Day and Happy June: DJ Spiezio June 2011 Mix

DJ Spiezio, aka Boston's Best DJ, is back with another awesome mix, just in time for the first of June and some finally nice weather. Although I got caught in a crazy downpour this morning Speez's mix is keeping me nice and warm.

Featured this month in the mix are a few of my favorite new tracks in the EDM world such as Dada Life - "Fight Club is Closed (Hardwell Remix)," Avicii - "Levels," and The Wombats - "Techno Fan (Afrojack Extended Club Remix)."

As always, this mix is available for download by clicking the arrow on the player, below the "Info" button.
