Fuck Yeah Friday! : Hardwell At It Again

Cam Harris checking in again for Fuck Yeah Friday here at the G-Spot. I know I know I featured a banger by Hardwell on Wednesday, but this track found it's way onto my Ipod yesterday and Holy Beats Galore, he has done it again. This Dutchman is clearly the man at the moment in the progressive house scene and has continued to prove himself time and time again. Just getting off stage from Tomorrowland in front of thousands, he has recently released this track which he also sampled at the Electric Daisy Carnival Vegas. The title track is called "The World". This song should be the perfect mix of heart stopping bass along with a unique melody that will be sure to make its way to repeat on your song selection this weekend. So twist the volume knob to max and turn the bass up for this one, this is..."The World":

The World - Hardwell

Obviously I can't let you take off for the weekend without adding some additional " Certifiable Bangers" to really get this summer weekend kicked into high gear. Enjoy the mix of some new noise from Example and a dub banger from Big Gigantic. Happy Fuck Yeah Friday!

Stay Awake - Example (Moam Remix)

Get Em High - Talib Kweli Ft Kanye West (Big Gigantic Remix)

Happy Hump Day: You've Got The Love - Florence and the Machine (Mark Knight Remix)

Cam Harris here this week feeding you your weekly addiction of beats and wobbles. Gballz has taken off back to the motherland that is Israel for the better part of the next two weeks, so I will be the keeper of the blog in his absence. Keeping in stride with your Hump Day beats to give you that extra push through your work week, I have brought to the table Mark Knights newest take on Florence and the Machine. For those of you not familiar with Knight, he has been on a tear already this year. Already picking up a Grammy Nomination for his work on the Black Eyed Peas' multi-platinum album titled, "The End” and constantly being on top of his game at Beatport, he has done it once again with his remix of Florence and the Machines billboard topping hit, "You've Got the Love". Using his signature sound teamed with his amazing production skills, this song will be sure to give you that extra kick in your step to get you in the homestretch to the weekend.

You've Got The Love - Mark Knight Remix

In case Mark Knight doesn't get it done for you (you must clearly be high), I added another one of my favorite sub pounding beats for you all to vibe with. Hardwell is doing huge things right now in the EDM game, known best for his collaboration with Tiesto titled "Zero 76", he is back with his remix of Martin Solveig's newest track, "Ready 2 Go". Listen, Enjoy, and check back for Fuck Yeah Friday to take you bumping into the weekend.

Monday Throwback: A Classic Pharcyde Track Plus Arty's "Around the World"

I have a feeling more people will recognize this beat from the song "Stutter" by Joe featuring Mystikal, but in fact the sample came from the Californian hip hop group Pharcyde's "Passin' Me By." This song is a classic hip hop joint and was released in March 1993. This track, produced by J-Swift, utilizes samples from "Summer in the City" by Quincy Jones, "125th Street Congress" by Weather Report and "Are You Experienced?" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

I figure it's a nice smooth track to ease you into your work weeks and doubles as a great summer jam.

As for me, this is my last post until August 8th. I take off for Israel tomorrow afternoon and couldn't be more excited. My good friend and understudy Cam Harris aka Cam Slamstein aka DJ Snippets will be taking over posting duties until that time so please bear with him as he brings you new and exciting tracks to rock to.

The Pharcyde - Passin' Me By

BONUS:
Since I won't have another chance to post this for a couple weeks, I wanted to bring Arty's "Around the World" to your attention. If you're big into EDM like I am, chances are you've heard this. If not, you're in for a treat. I was recently listening to the newest Dance Department podcast (highly recommended) and Dennis Ruyer played it during his portion of the show. Dance Department is known for playing more straight up House tracks and tends to shy away from bangers and more towards funky, groovy tech-house kinds of tracks. Arty is considered a combination of Trance and Progressive House and is definitely blurring the lines between House and Trance. This 21-year-old Russian producer will be at Electric Zoo and I am hoping to be able to catch some of his set.

As always, please post your comments or email me at jongilman87@gmail.com!

Fuck Yeah Friday!: Adding Some Hotness to the Heatwave

Is it hot outside or is it just me?

Well, we have ourselves a little heat wave going on here in Boston and things have been rather sticky and sluggish. Personally I've found refuge in my air conditioned room, with very little clothing, and loud bass-heavy music.

Here are a few of the songs I've been turning the bass up for recently and these tracks are a must-have for your pool parties, your ice parties, and/or your naked parties.

In particular, pay attention to the awesome "Save the World" remix created by AN21 (Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello's brother) & Max Vangeli.

Stay cool party people!

Doctor P - Watch Out

Fractal System - Can You Dance (Darth & Vader Remix)

Happy Hump Day: New Avicii and New(ish) Lazy Rich

Avicii's "Penguin" got a makeover and some added male vocals to create "Fade Into Darkness." It's not one of my favorite Avicii songs, but it is beautifully produced and worth a listen. Because "Penguin" was such a crowd favorite, I can see this track being huge with the added sing-a-long potential.

Also posted here is one of Lazy Rich's newer tracks called "Better Wipe That Up." Just another electro-house banger that Lazy Rich has come to make standard in his collection of tunes, complete with all the wobbles you can digest.

Monday Throwback: Mos Def - Sunshine

It's always fun going through your music and realizing you have awesome songs in your collection that you never listen to. This is what happened with today's Throwback, which is "Sunshine" by Mos Def. This is from his album The New Danger released in 2004. I was a bit surprised to learn the track was produced by none other than Kanye West. Although it makes sense (old school feel, high-pitched vocal samples, feels like it could belong on College Dropout, etc), I did not immediately recognize this as a West production.

The New Danger is less traditional than Mos Def's previous album Black on Both Sides and begins to show Mos Def's versatility with the style of his tracks. His flow, however, remains consistently smooth and his rhymes are just as good as any other work he has done.

Unrelated note: Thanks to everyone who allowed me to take pictures of them for My Music is Better Than Yours Saturday night at Guilt in Boston. Had lots of fun and it was great meeting everyone!

Fuck Yeah Friday!: Alex Kidd, Hoi!, Gramophonedzie, and... David Guetta?!

A recent discovery and he goes by the name Gramophonedzie
I've been hung over all day so this was a little painful to put together. Here is a 4-song collection of new songs I've been digging. These are not necessarily new to the world but they are new to my ears. Pay particular attention to Gramophonedzie because that song is funky as hell. I might be working with a local Boston promoter to bring him here so keep your fingers crossed for that.

The David Guetta song is actually GOOD. I'm surprised too, because I often don't like Guetta songs. It has a very Afrojack-ish sound and some people across the internet have been speculating that he had his hand in this track.

Enjoy party people.

Alex Kidd - West Coast (Original Mix)

Hoi! - Jukebox Junkie (Figure Remix)

BONUS:
Dada Life (finally) put out their latest mix. I haven't listened to it yet but looking at the track list I can only imagine it's a full hour of bangers as usual...
